I remember when I payed 90[ for the AC 2's Black Edition which includes an Ezio figure with its Black armor on, an artbook and the game's OST. It's so fucking insane seeing a similar edition priced at 280€ when adjusting for inflation the one I got would be around 125€ today.

In regards to Assassin’s Creed, I was hyped for it the second I saw Yasuke was in it. Lately I feel like my game choices have gotten more out of spite over all this “woke” nonsense. All I have to say is that it’s really the loss of ignorant incels. I get to play things like God of War Ragnarok, Alan Wake 2, or Spider-Man 2, and they’re left to show us how threatened they are by the existence of fictional characters who aren’t straight white men.

I think I watched the story bits of 3? And I heard they eventually dropped the animus angle that, if I recall correctly, was forced in from the start. As for the Ukraine story, I'm starting to see how someone like Ted Farro could end up ending the world.

I'm totally hyped for the new Assassin's Creed game. This whole backlash against the characters just feels like people looking for something to get angry at without acknowledging ANY of the nuance in this or any of their other games' stories. My favorite part about the games is that there's such a grounding in real historical people/places/events (I'm a history nerd, and I especially love Japanese history) and this is just another one of those stories. Just because it doesn't track with what fans think that historical Japan should be is insane. Makes no sense to me. Yasuke is a real historical figure who'll be fascinating to explore (imagine all the Nobunaga intrigue!), and so'll be Naoe - the role of women in historical (and modern) Japan is complex, and c'mon, you have to have at least ONE shinobi in a game literally titled ASSASSIN's Creed, and it can't be the one you're basing off a historical samurai. It's like, hey, y'all don't have to willfully ignore all the nuance and be angry about the playable character demographics - all you have to do is look at the prices, now THERE'S something to get up in arms about. ...that being said I'll probably still fork over the cash. Dammit.
